A bunch of players in Mind Body Medicine have gotten together to advocate for restructuring health care at a deeper level than just adjusting funding mechanisms. This is a document of recommendations being pushed for in Washington.

Please describe you interests and concerns related to the sustainability of Champaign County.
I am currently especially interested in low-tech public health and the place of alternative healing in that. Other aspects (sanitation, clean water, food security) are important components. I am also interested in things like walkable/bikeable community, local currency, permaculture, etc. My perspective is that of a middle-aged mother of a child in elementary school.
What experiences, knowledge and skills do you bring to Transition Champaign County?
I am currently a massage therapist with a focus on pain release and preventive wellness. I spent several years as a stay at home mother when my son was younger. Prior to parenthood I had a career in information technology, and have a degree in accounting. I spent about 20 years involved on and off in historical recreation as a hobby. Some of the practical skills I have worked on over the years include food preparation, gardening, and clothing construction.
What role and activities are you interested in to help Champaign County transition toward a sustainable future?
I don't know what roles and activities are available or contemplated. I'm sure something will be a good fit.
What other environmental or sustainability-related groups, organizations or institutions do you belong to or work for (please consider inviting your co-members to join us, too!)?
SpiralScouts (an alternative co-ed scouting group)
I have in the past been a member of Prairie Greens, PCSA and HOUSE
